Assistant Regional Director - Nottingham

Role Summary:

Based at our East Midlands office in Nottingham, the CBI East Midland team.

Based at our Nottingham office, the CBI East Midlands Team is responsible for retaining and growing the membership base and raising the profile of the CBI across the East Midlands.

Reporting into the Regional Director the Assistant Regional Director will be responsible for developing a successful retention plan designed to engage with all members across the region. This will include designing and delivering events / briefings / seminars alongside one to one meetings with key accounts and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help to design and deliver the business plan for CBI activities in the East Midlands.
  • Key focus is to work with the events executive to design and deliver the retention strategy focused on delivering key briefings and events and creating a ‘club environment’ in the region.
  • Develop and manage relationship with sponsors and key stakeholders across the region to ensure repeat sponsorship agreements and additional funding year on year.
  • Deliver events / roundtables / lunches/ briefing focused on regional policy issues of relevance to CBI members and effectively advocate the CBI position.
  • Manage the relationship with a portfolio of member companies to ensure that CBI supports their business to grow
  • Understand and articulate the needs of specific sectors of relevance to the regional economy and create solutions to support the development of these sectors
  • Develop networks within the East Midlands business community, maintaining the profile of the CBI
  • Work with the regional director to provide a compelling membership offer to existing and potential CBI members
  • Retain the membership base in the region and achieve specific financial targets through focussed events and forums to create a ‘club’ environment.
  • Support policy colleagues with case studies from the membership that demonstrate how policy impacts competitiveness, helping CBI influence the debate
  • Work with colleagues across the UK and internationally to identify business trends and to alert policy makers of the implications of these changes in the business environment
  • Deputise for the regional director where required.

Structure:

  • The CBI has about 190 geographically spread and dispersed staff, with a head office in London, 13 regional offices in the UK and four international offices (Brussels, Washington, Beijing and Delhi).
  • CBI East Midlands covers Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire
  • The Assistant Regional Director needs to have easy access to the regional office in Nottingham and will be required to travel across the region, with occasional travel further afield within the United Kingdom.
  • The Assistant Regional Director is supported by a Business development executive and an Events Exec & Regional Administrator.
