Response to the Department for Work and Pensions consultation on the Defined Benefit Pensions Regulator's powers

CBI calls for a measured approach to stronger DB Pensions Regulation.

The vast majority of Defined Benefit pension schemes are well regulated and well managed and, in the main, businesses take a considered and responsible approach to decisions regarding their scheme. Firms also recognise the need for strong and effective regulation to ensure a level playing field and so welcome the work that The Pensions Regulator does and the robust way in which it wields its existing powers. In response to the DWP consultation on the Regulator’s powers, CBI sets out the key areas where improvements to regulation can be made but also warns against kneejerk reactions that may hinder the Regulator, rather than help it.
