CBI appoints new North West Chair

Ian Funnell has been appointed as the new North West Chair of the UK’s largest business group, taking over from Marnie Millard OBE, Chief Executive Officer of Nichols PLC, in January 2019.

Ian is Chief Executive Officer, ABB Limited, UK – a pioneering technology company that works closely with utility, industry, transportation and infrastructure customers. 

Ian was appointed to his current role in January 2015, following a long and distinguished career in the global energy sector. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology.

Ian is currently a member of the CBI President’s Committee and a member of the Advisory Boards of Innovate UK (Energy Revolution) and Imperial College London (Energy Futures Laboratory). He is also a member of the Government’s Made Smarter Commission and its North West Pilot Steering Board.  He will join as a member of the CBI’s North West regional council.

Commenting on his appointment, Ian Funnell, Chair of CBI North West, said:
