CBI appoints new Northern Ireland Vice Chair

CBI Northern Ireland is delighted to announce the appointment of Adrian Doran as its new Vice Chair.

Trevor Lockhart (CBI Northern Ireland Chair and Group Chief Executive Fane Valley), Carolyn Fairbairn (Director-General CBI), Angela McGowan (Director CBI Northern Ireland), Adrian Doran (Vice Chair CBI Northern Ireland and Head of Corporate Banking, Northern Ireland) Trevor Lockhart (CBI Northern Ireland Chair and Group Chief Executive Fane Valley), Carolyn Fairbairn (Director-General CBI), Angela McGowan (Director CBI Northern Ireland), Adrian Doran (Vice Chair CBI Northern Ireland and Head of Corporate Banking, Northern Ireland)

Adrian will serve as Vice Chair for the remainder of this year before taking up the position as Chair of CBI Northern Ireland from Trevor Lockhart in January next year.

Adrian is widely recognised as one of the most highly respected bankers in Northern Ireland, having led Barclays’ Corporate Banking business since October 2000.  Under his leadership Barclays has become a major player in the local market, having led some of the largest financing transactions for many of Northern Ireland’s leading companies. In recent years the bank has also expanded its presence in the SME sector, and is particularly well regarded in the technology sector, having opened its co-working Eagle Lab space in Ormeau Baths in 2017.  

Adrian comes to the CBI with a wealth of experience across Northern Ireland business, having originally trained as a chartered accountant with PwC before spending four years in Bank of Ireland’s corporate banking team.  

Adrian has been a member of the CBI Council in Northern Ireland for 5 years and has Chaired of the CBI’s Infrastructure Forum since 2016.  He is also a member of Senate of Queen’s University Belfast.
