Sexual harassment is illegal and totally unacceptable - wherever it takes place

We've responded to the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee special report into sexual harassment in the workplace.

Sexual harassment is illegal and totally unacceptable - wherever it takes place

Matthew Percival, CBI Head of Employment policy, said:

"Sexual harassment, wherever it takes place, is illegal and totally unacceptable – not least in your place of work. Businesses are committed to stamping out sexual harassment and take the welfare of their employees very seriously. Committing to clarify the law so that victims know they are protected against harassment by third parties is an important step. Both a Code of Practice and better data collection have the potential to help employers understand the nature of sexual harassment at work and develop plans to eradicate it.

“Companies understand they have a duty of care and want to work with the Government to build inclusive workplaces where everyone feels safe, supported and able to challenge unacceptable behaviour.”
